How it All Started
Who is Christel van Asten, the face behind the camera?
And how did I become a photo- and videographer?
To answer these questions, we have to get back in time to the year 2012. I was 9 years old. This was the year we decided to leave the Netherlands to start following our dream; learning from Life, AKA homeschooling and travelling. In the years that followed, I learned how to get great at something. I learned project-wise, so I would dive into one subject untill I had mastered it completely, then move to the next. I like this way of learning as I learned to master things quickly because they interested me, and on a much deeper level than I would have learned them at school.
Homeschooling let me to publish a set of ‘tarot’ cards featuring minerals and their healing properties, something I was very interested in by that time, at the age of 14. This was also when my interest of photography sparked; I took most of the photos for the cards during a two-month road trip through Sweden and Norway and I learned a lot about composition, background and natural lighting during this trip.
From that moment on, I evolved into a photographer and more recently, a videographer. My sister followed her dream by training (rescue)horses and breeding high quality foals, and I developed my own style of equine photo- and videography thanks to this.
You will also find some photos of my beloved rescue dog Deva on this website. We had to let her go at the age of 15 but she will always have a very special place in my heart.
Besides photo- and videography, I practise and compete in Horseback Archery.
When I started to study videography and especially drone videography, my interest for cooperate and real estate videos started. I love showing a business, house, tourist attraction or municipality in its best possible light and I devote a lot of time to planning projects, developing new ideas and perfecting my videos with color grading and careful editing.
It is my passion to make your vision and dreams come to life, whether it is a drone video of you and your horse galopping on the beach at sunset, photos of your young puppy, showcasing your business to attrach more clients or personnel, I would love to work with you!
I am a certified drone pilot and own a DJI Mavic 3, one of the best videography drones on the market. I have a Nikon camera with several high-quality lenses and a mobile studio setup.
